About Flannel Ball

While NYC celebrates the ball drop in Times Square and Flagstaff lowers the Great Pinecone, Phoenix rings in the New Year partying like it's 1999 at downtown's favorite flannual event: Flannel Ball!

Since 2014, Arizonans and visitors from across the valley have gathered under the desert stars to countdown to midnight with a fun-filled, flannel-fraught block party in downtown's vibrant Roosevelt Row Arts District. This year, Flannel Ball keeps alive the local artist tradition of adaptive reuse. Strings of lights illuminate an art-activated alleyway nestled among historic bungalows converted into creative studios and boutiques. Chain link fences transform into art gallery walls. Backyards are reimagined as live music venues. Dirt lots are reinvented as community gardens complete with urban chicken coops. Even the dumpsters are works of art.

The flannel extravaganza is a must-see event, featuring live local music acts, an art show, flavor-filled food trucks, a beer garden sponsored by New Belgium Brewing Co., lawn games, a photo booth, the New Year piñata drop, and a champagne toast.

Celebrate the mild winter weather clad in plaid!
